Teena Parkinson

I am driven by a passion to awaken people to their positive qualities, their brilliant uniqueness and their birthright to create a life of joy, purpose and fulfilment.

I came to the study of hypnotherapy after many years exploring therapies in a search for insight into how people can become the best person they want to be.  We often feel ‘possessed’ by unwanted behaviours and thinking patterns that limit our potential and our sense of wellbeing.  Too often, we are overwhelmed by emotions that leave us crippled with feelings of self-doubt, frustration and yearning.  Sometimes, life circumstances can seem so challenging and unfair that we feel helpless and worn-out.

Like many people, I was anxious and stressed, pestered for years by my internal chattering ‘monkey mind’.  I found that the results of hypnotherapy were so fast and dramatic that I was compelled to share its benefits with others.  It was thrilling to see positive, life-changing outcomes in people who had felt powerless to manage such issues as pain, anxiety, phobias and dependencies.

Many people are suspicious about hypnosis, recalling how stage hypnotists seem to control participants and make them do embarrassing things.  Such hypnotists carefully select people that they know will be willing participants, and then build on their eagerness to ‘perform’.  Stage hypnotism is not hypnotherapy.  Hypnotherapy is a targeted therapeutic tool that allows people to be receptive to options and inner resources which will move them towards achieving their aims and goals.  Under hypnosis, you have access to the power of the unconscious mind, where habits and beliefs reside.  There can be some habits and beliefs that are just not working for you and these can seem impossible to shift.  Hypnotherapy can target those, replacing them with long-term desirable states of wellbeing.  It is also particularly helpful in improving treatment outcomes – a valuable adjunct to other therapies.

Hypnotherapy can be very helpful in resolving a range of issues, including:

  • Stress and anxiety
  • Pain management
  • Dependencies – smoking, alcohol, gambling, teeth grinding, etc
  • Weight control
  • Fears and phobias
  • Poor motivation and procrastination
  • Sleep difficulties and insomnia
  • Low self-esteem
  • Emotional distress
  • Anger management
  • Behaviour modification

For some people, hypnotherapy alone is a highly beneficial strategy.  For others, it can be most effectively used in conjunction with life coaching.  In this way, positive habits and routines are quickly established in a goal directed focus.

As part of my focus on providing a targeted service that responds to the uniqueness of each person, I offer packages that provide services in hypnotherapy, life coaching or a combination of both.  I look forward to supporting you to become the best person you want to be.
